Clinical and Special Medical Interests
Dr. Ziv Gamliel is a full-time thoracic surgeon at St. Joseph Medical Center and Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery. In addition to his specialist certification in Thoracic Surgery, he is also board certified in Surgical Critical Care. In September 2006, he came to St. Joseph Medical Center from the University of Maryland where he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. At the University of Maryland, he had served as Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit.

Dr. Gamliel works closely with surgical, medical and radiation oncologists in the St. Joseph Medical Center Cancer Institute to enhance our multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care. He brings with him special expertise in multimodality management of thoracic malignancies, advanced bronchoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques, surgery for emphysema, myasthenia gravis and hyperhidrosis, as well as surgical critical care.

Dr. Gamliel has held numerous awards and honors, has participated in national activities and has written numerous book chapters, abstracts and journal articles.
